Taking a Future-Forward Approach to Women’s Healthcare

With over 17 years of experience, I’m a Consultant Gynaecologist specialising in pelvic pain, endometriosis, and hormonal health. Today my work spans research and innovation, education, and clinical practice at the intersection of women’s health, technology and drug development.

My focus is on driving innovation in the treatment and management of women’s pelvic pain and hormonal conditions, finding solutions that complement surgical interventions. In addition, I work with medical education organisations such as the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopists (BSGE) to train future specialists in the field.

Even though women make up 50% of the global population, research into women’s health remains hugely underfunded. Women are more likely than men to suffer from chronic conditions, and while they may live longer, their quality of life is often compromised. That imbalance urgently needs addressing.

Championing and Advancing Women’s Health Solutions

My work is all about empowering women to live longer, healthier lives through innovative, evidence-based advancements. There are many unmet needs when it comes to patient care around women’s health issues, driven by a serious lack of investment in research around women’s health and the resulting lack of innovative treatments.

This is something I am determined to change through my work. I consult with pharmaceutical companies, contributing to the development of new drugs for women’s health conditions and pelvic pain management. For me, the future of women’s healthcare effortlessly blends medical, pharmaceutical, technological and lifestyle interventions to create holistic pathways of care.

Seeing Patients as Parts of a Whole

I believe in taking a whole-person approach to women’s health, integrating medical and surgical expertise with complementary therapies. Pelvic pain and hormonal health conditions are almost always chronic, which means a one-time surgical intervention is often not enough. In my clinical practice, my approach is to consider a patient’s whole self - from nutrition and movement to supplements and even alternative approaches such as acupuncture.

Where It All Started

After my first degree in Clinical Neuroscience at St George’s Medical School in London, I went on to do my basic medical training (MBBS) there, graduating in 2006. Since then, I’ve received my MRCOG and FRCOG and worked at world-leading institutes such as Kings College Hospital London, Institute de Recherche contre les Cancers de l’Appareil (IRCAD) in Strasbourg and currently University College London Hospital.

My roles as Chief Mentor for UK accredited Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgical Education and Assessment (GESEA) training centre and Senior Committee representative at British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE) allow me to train the next generation of gynaecological specialists.

More recent roles include Fractional Chief Medical Officer at Syrona Health, and consultant Medical Director at Medherent.

Over my years of medical work, I realised that women’s healthcare research is massively underfunded and therefore under-served when it comes to innovation and forward-thinking approaches. A desire to fix this is what drives my work now - I’m always looking to partner or consult with progressive, trailblazing organisations in need of medical expertise to navigate the women’s health space.
